Import? That is the first time I've heard an F1 car called that!

Well...for most American motorsports fans...anything outside of Daytona is pretty much an import....

And you are correct...those hp numbers are from 1986.....

Ahh..I miss F-1 in the 80's...big horsepower...big slicks....big exhaust flames....big sparks...big hair!!!

Re: Brabham BT-50 In Progress

The last BMW powered BT models were producing well in excess of 1500bhp at the wheels. As somebody mentioned, the precise figure is not known because the dyno stopped at 1500....that's some figure. The conrods used to stretch by so much during a race that engine failure was imminent at virtually every race.
Gerhard Berger said in the late 90's that if he stepped back into his Benneton BMW it would scare him shitless. The power of those cars was truly unreal.

Engine looking great, keep up the work!

Any progress Zurbert?

I'm about to finish mine up, I wanted to ask you what white you are going to use for the body, only the decals I have aren't bright white but pretty dull, Anyone know any good matches?

Anyway, It's looking good, I would have done a post with pics of mine but my photography is SH-1-T!!! Any tips on that are appreciated too!

Heya Willster, I used Tamiya primer followed by a few coats of TS26 pure white. I'm having decal issuses though. My sheet is yellowed, probably like yours. I tried applying one of the blue decals on one of the sidepods, but it came out all wrinkled and bubbled. I'm probably going to order a new sheet, so I should be updating this thread soon

Re: Brabham BT-50 In Progress

I've already got a new sheet for mine as the original one was yellowed massively and was stuck to the bottom of the box which tore up most of the decals when I pulled it up, $5 off e-bay so I can't really complain. F1-Specialties has those sheets in stock and they are very nice and clean but the decals still seem to be off white though, I think it would be hard to match anyway so will probably go with pure white as originally planned, I'll keep you posted about the new decals, I hope they're OK!
