Re: buying a 300zx TT

From what I hear... the TT's can be quite trublesome... but don't let that deter you! They are fun cars! You shouldn't have too amny problems if the guy took care of his car! Just make sure you get it serviced ASAP and make sure no lil' problems turn to big ones as-soon-as-you-get-the-car!

Re: buying a 300zx TT

A 1990 TT with 190k on it.... BWHWHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAH! DAMN dude, that engine would go pretty quickly. For 7500, damn thats a rip off. I would rather get one for 3g that needs 1700 in work (on Autotrader.com right now, near my zip too) i'll try and track down the website that had proven that it took 3g a year for the damn car. (3g if you pay someone to do it all, or about 1200 if you are mechanically inclined, so if you are like me or something, plan on digging up a g a year.) Peace foo's

Re: buying a 300zx TT

Z's are hella fun cars.. but they are very low tolerence engines.. I had on bolt break on an idler pulley, which means bent valves.. maybe damaged pistons... becuase of one BOLT! So be ready to wrench a bit if you get a Z. Just make sure you drive it and not beat on it too much becuase parts will break and they ARE expensive. That deal sounds pretty good.. I got my 90 with a fresh rebuild for 5900... (U.S.) and 115K miles. I would go to twinturbo.net and read the FAQ and the Tech section to get an idea of maintainence and care taking. Good Luck and Have fun.

Re: buying a 300zx TT

Hey, I have a 91 TT stg 3+ to 4(somewhere around there) so I have some credibility I feel. A TT is a maintenance heavy car. and there's things taht always come up because they're old and very technical. 3Gs is very steep (sorry Nismo) but it will be expensive. since I've had my car which has been about 9 months. I've replaced the clutch slave cylinder(20$ and a lot of time), replaced all the fuel lines and components($200), headlight bulb replacement($20), brakes (traded stock TT wheels for brembo slotted/cross drilled rotors, axxis pads, and a high temp brake fluid), a pillar with boost and water temp guage ($80-from a friend). I also have an injector replacement coming up that will cost about $500 for maybe two, or about 200$ for one, or I might upgrade all of them. also, spark plugs ($40), some other stuff too. Keep in mind that I'm in a club and get a lot of GREAT deals. I also did a lot of maintenance that was free but took a lot of time, like cleaning stuff...like EVERY SINGLE CONNECTOR! You have to kind of know you're stuff as well.
