ok i just got done reading a comparison test between an S2K and a 350Z. the G35 is slightly slower than the 350Z and the S2k beat the 350 to 60mph and in the 1/4 mile.
Also the rev limitor isn't set at 9k on a S2k that's where it redlines at. And the V-tec doesn't kick in until 7k. Just to clarify some things.

hey, my dads got a black G35 coupe and its automatic, pussy, and my best friend has a stock 03' wrx and from a stand still his back tire was at my front tire all the way to 130. he hasnt raced an s2000 but id imagin he would lose.

r&t say the s2000 0-60 is 5.5 and a [email protected]
r&t say the Gcoupe 0-60 is 6.1 and a [email protected]

so the g might win in the long run. its top speed is 155 which i have done( its really easy to get there) and the s2000 is 150.

but my dad is going away for a week on monday so ill take it to the track and see what i can race.

i've seen an s2000 beat a c5 corvette too but that doesn't make the s2000 a faster car.

I'd take the G35. The S2k's never appealed to me; if i wanted a snappy handler i'd rather have an Elise

lol

typical responses from people who bought their cars and want to defend their purchases vs. cars they have no knowledge of, whatsoever.

I've driven an S2000, a 350Z, a G35, etc, etc. I go out to test drive every new car i can. The only car of these three i have messed around with on an autocross course was the 350Z.

To summarize it:
You don't get the extra room for us huge americans to sit in, you don't get cargo space, you don't get space for passengers, if you're too tall like I am, you won't have enough space for your seat, the S2K doesnt even have a tilt steering wheel so for tall people the car is just not as...fogiving.

However, the G35 is a sporty-luxury sedan. Ok yes they have a coupe model. But it's still a massive boat of a car. Not just by the looks, but by the feel of the car.

The S2000 is a roadster/sports car. The differential isnt launch friendly, it IS NOT a 1/4 mile performer. Take an S2000 canyon carving and you get a feel for the road, it's altogether an entirely different driving experience. And get's only better with the top down.

Bumpy, cramped, unforgiving, and hard to drive? Sure the S2000 is, thats why some people love it so much. It's not for everybody, but anyone who has driven both and than asked to compare the two...

One is a sports car, one is a luxury car. And on a road course, with a G35, dear lord can you say BODY ROLL ?

*and stop the mag racing. Some mags get a 92mph off the S2k, some get a 99mph. And one experience at the drag "that you saw" doesnt mean anything either.

Well said. Personally, I'd take an s2000. Not as practical, by my dad has one and I absolutely love everything about the car.

S2000 owner here.

Guys im not here to bash the g35 or to make the s2k seem like the perfect car. However, you guys are bashing a car you know very little about. Just this thread is laden with errors, bout vtec engagement points and so on. The point is that even if you want to mag race these two cars, the s2k will still win. Just to clarify im talking about the 00-03 s2000's since i own an 02. The 04 recieved a stroked motor, different diff housing, lower redline, and bigger tires. The s2k is more agile and believe it or not faster then the g is str8 line accel. The g35 is better suited as a daily driver, it is not up to par with the s2k in sheer performance. A great car none the less. Please take the time to watch this video.

Re: g35 coupe vs s2k

Raced one tonight. Some young guy and his G35 was tailing me the whole time.

It was too easy. By 4th gear I was at least 4 cars ahead of him.

G35 is boat compare to S2000. Can't even compare.
