Re: Porsche Horse Power and 0-60 time
Why you so interested in 0-60 numbers? 0-60 time isnt a useful performance measurement in real world driving.

0-60... hmm... like i tell everyone... 0-60 in second gear less then 8 seconds is my guess... but the key factor is here is a car that can do 145+ just watchout for the wipers.

![]() As for times, and HP of 944’s, if you do a search you will find many different answers. Personally, I like the early 944’s. They are the lightest ones made, and (IMO) have the most aggressive looking stance. ![]() ![]() ![]() As 87Porsche951 pointed out, “real world driving”, is what the 944 is about. Fact is, light, well balanced, cars is what wins. Take a 944, put top end brakes, and suspension on it, and you will have a car that will out handle most of today’s “Sport cars”. Nothing I love more then being behind some kid in a Mustang GT and coming into nice curves. I just plant my nose on his rear bumper, and enjoy the ride. If it were on a track, I would have passed him when he was breaking. That is what a 944 is about! Perhaps I should mention the little part about the 1982 Le Mans when Porsche took the first 944 GT turbo. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but if I remember right, it took 7th over all, and won the least pit time. It was in the pits for less then an hour!

Re: Porsche Horse Power and 0-60 time
it was the 1981 LeMans and the 924 GTP some places call it a 944 GTP. It was much like the production 944 Turbo but lighter and more power.
If i remember correctly the 5.0L stangs are still slower than the 944 Turbo. I think the 5.0L do 15's stock if i remember correctly. Dont buy any Porsche for drag racing even if it is quicker, pointless to buy a Porsche if you only want to drive in a straight line. Anyone can drive fast in a straight line but it takes a good driver to drive fast around a corner. instead of focusing on 0-60 times why not look for 50-70 or 60-80 times, after all those are the speeds you will be doing when you need power to over take someone when trying to pass on a highway/freewayor merge into one . Where in the world do you know streets that need to to go from idle to 60MPH as quick as you can? If you want a quick car buy a mustang or camaro, parts are cheap and maintanance is cheap so when you break something you can actually afford to fix it.

Let me just add one thing. If you look into “How to make your car handle better”, you will find a ton of info on how to make it handle like a Porsche, but you never see any info on how to make it handle like a Mustang, Camaro, MR2, Blah, Blah. It is always about making it handle like Porsche’s. Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that Porsche has more winning racecars than all other manufactures?
