the nerf bar

i have a 00 X and was wondering if the nerf bars are of any importance, other than looks. Should i remove the stock nerf bars or just leave them on?

They're completely flimsy aluminum things that weigh all of 5 lbs it seems. They will fold up like a soda can if you hit anything with them off-road, usually messing up your rocker panels more than they would have been otherwise (if at all if what you hit wasn't high enough to reach the rockers).

If you or a family member needs 'em to climb in, leave 'em. Otherwise, ditch 'em. They'll easily fetch $100 on Ebay. Without them your X looks taller too

If you do want something to climb up on that will actually take abuse, there are several slider/boulder bar options available for around $3-400.
