Uh-oh - I have water coming out of my exhaust

I have been troubleshooting my 97 4.3L Blazer for some time now (see thread below - Low/seraching Idle and stalling) but had to start a new thread on this one to get some attention. I keep having water come from my exhaust, and out of my muffler. The water is definitley very clear (not DexCool). Could this be my problem? It stinks too - almost electrical. I pray to God it is not a head gasket - I only have 60,000 miles on it and its driven very mellow.

Re: Uh-oh - I have water coming out of my exhaust

Ihad no codes stored according to the reader I bought. I tried new IAC Valve - no help. I unplugged all O2 sensors, no code was thrown, thought I was on to something it seemed to idle nicley, but dropped to 650 again. I tried to adjust idle screw, seemed to hewp, but when I put in gear the idle drops and it feels like it is going to stall - I adjusted idle with it in gear - it just wants to drive fast by itself - thats a bandaid.

Check this out though - I am worried about the water (a good bit) the continues to flow from my exhaust. It is clear (no DexCool). The truck stinks, almost like electrical - the water too. Do I have head gasket problems?

Re: Uh-oh - I have water coming out of my exhaust

Thanks for the replies. My original thread goes into much detail on my entire escapade. The water really is not sweet smeeling. My O2s all seem to be good via the Chilton checkout. No real missfire - just rough running and low idle AFTER it warms up. All sensors good. I am just really worried about the head gasket thing.

Re: Uh-oh - I have water coming out of my exhaust

Probably a false alrm - no prob with coolant level or oil. Now that I drove it a while the condensation went away. Thanks.

well if it was the head gasket your oil and water will be mixing so i doubt thats it sounds like condensation and thats normal

Re: Uh-oh - I have water coming out of my exhaust

Thanks - just not used to very much condensation in NM. Probably a bit more in the air and more build up sitting in garage running at idle for the troubleshooting.

Re: Uh-oh - I have water coming out of my exhaust

I am having a similar problem as well with water coming from the exhaust, but I am losing water from my radiator...i usually have to add water to the radiator every 100 miles or so. I never thought they could be related but, now that a couple people have asked "hows the coolant level?," I am starting to wonder. I never seem to be able to find the water leak underneath the engine, so could this be my lost water leak?

Re: Uh-oh - I have water coming out of my exhaust

water is suposed to come out of the exhaust when you burn gas you get water vapor and co2 when the truck is started water will drip out the pipe and muffler there is a small water drain hole on the back of your muffler once the truck is warmed up the water stays in vapor so you don't see it. nothing to worry about here

Re: Re: Uh-oh - I have water coming out of my exhaust

ok I just want to make sure i read everything correctly...... water vapor is normal? I just bought a 98 S10 blazer when you start it its has no problems whatsoever. If I shut it off and restart it, it hesitates a second and starts up and I get what looks like white smoke (steam?) comming out the exhaust pipe. I checked the oil its clear looks just like honey. Is this just normal condensation?

Yes, water is normal, it's part of the catalytic converter process... I wouldn't worry about it..
