Diecast Newbie

Howdy!

About a month a got my first 2 1/18 diecast cars over eBay. I was looking for a DVD copy of "Two Lane Blacktop" when the showed me the 1/18 model of the primer gray '55 Chevy from the movie. I've always loved that car from that movie. Unable to resist temptation, I put a bid on it and won. I also went looking for "The Car" in 1/18 scale and got it too. One month and eight new cars later, one might say the bug has bitten me pretty hard. At the moment I'm looking for garage accessories and figurines for a diorama I'm drawing up plans for and loving every minute of it.

I'm glad to have found this forum because I'm sure I'll be having a lot of question for you all.

I find older cars more interesting...they seem to have more "character" or "personality". They also seem to reflect the zeitgeist of their of their era more than modern cars do. Look at a car from, say, 1958. What does the appearance of that car tell you about life in that year? Besides, my Dad worked for Ford Motor Company for 40 years, so I guess cars are in my blood. As a five-year-old (I'm 45) I used to be able to the tell all the different cars on the road, which amazed my parents. It's considerably harder for me now
