freeze plug, coolant loss....

i have a 1995 blazer LS.
recently, the freeze plug on the left rear side of the engine rusted out and started leaking coolant. i tried that "bars leaks" coolant system sealer several times but with no real success. i had the idea that i would just replace the freeze plug until i got up close and realized what a pain it is to get to the thing, so no dice. there is much that needs to be removed just to get access to the plug and its not worth it, nor is it worth my $$ to have a shop fix it.
i took a circular piece of tin about the size of the plug and smeared it with JB weld. after the freeze plug area was dry, i put the piece of tin in place and let it dry for 2 days. filled the coolant today and drove it 35 miles with no problem until i got 2 blocks from my house when i mashed the throttle to take off and i suppose the pressure blew my "remedy" right off.
i guess im curious as to what i can do to plug this leak up. something that will withstand the liquid, heat, and pressure. JB weld has a tensile strength of 3900psi and a temp. rating of 600 degrees so im not sure what happened.

wow I would have thought the JB Weld...would have done the job...I have in the past put two large cans of Stops Leak...(like 20 oz. total)
in a radiator to stop a leak I did not want to deal with...If you are just looking for an answer for a short time this may work for you as well.... :o)

If you could pry the rest of that frost plug out you could probably get by with one of those engine block heaters that gets intalled in a frost plug hole, its gotta be a lot easier than trying to pound a frost plug into either hole near the firewall

i like the idea too, however, as i said, there is virtually no room for me to even reach my hand in.
i dont know how i would go about fitting a block heater in there.
