yeap, at least get a BMW from 97-98...
older it will be a mess. More years a machine has more troubles it takes, and with its econo-cost.....

bmw are nice cars, but to get an older one just for the name, better stay with your neon...

greetins,

Re: Well, I am selling the Neon

You named your car Marvin?

I'm surprised the car hasn't topped himself yet

Re: Well, I am selling the Neon

Yeah 3 series! A friend of mine wanted one for a long while, but we eventually gave up, I don't even know why.

They're beautiful cars, I love them, but I hate to address 2stroke's very valid point, they are pricey in terms of upkeep, but I'm proabably the 9th person to say this.

Re: Well, I am selling the Neon

BMW is nice but like everyone else has said, consider the cost of repairs, go for a Volkswagen Jetta.

Here's a B-body 9C1 from 1991...(sig)
I think you know what I'd pick....

Poor Marvin. It's a shame to hear he's needing retirement.

I'm sure you'll have lots of fun in your next car though.

Hell, I used up all the tissues crying at how much savings money the car has eaten in repairs Well I talked to 3 attorneys at my office who have had various years/generations of BMWs. They said to be careful and that one repair depending on how bad could cost more than all the money I've dumped into Marvin over the last few. As much as I would love a BMW I think I may put it off for now....at least until we are doing a bit better financially. We're making good money with our combined incomes, but not that good should the Bimmer have a crisis.

So I am thinking maybe a truck, like a Nissan or Pathfinder. We're hoping to get a pair of Dobermans this year and will need something to transport them in. ONce Alex's Roadmaster project is done they won't be able to ride in his car.

I am starting to detach myself from my beloved beast, just to make it easier when he does go. I've had the car 7 years....and that's the longest I've kept one. Well I can at least say I had a fun project car in this life

Re: Well, I am selling the Neon

if you want to have a nice luxury car, get the infiniti g35. I think it's nicer (subjective), faster, more reliable, and not to mention cheaper than the BMW 330ci. If you get the AWD g35x, it's practical and you can drive it in the snow.

And you can never go wrong with a Nissan

Re: Well, I am selling the Neon

I'm looking at a '95 Bonneville sse for my wife. I didn't realize they were loaded like they are. It's a bit smaller than a B-body with all of the options and then some.
Food for thought...

And an FYI I am looking at used cars in the $6000-8000 range. I wouldlove a new Infiniti G35 coupe....too sexy for words....but our goal is to pay cash and not finance. Unless divine intervention takes place and we come into that kind of money.....that would be cool :o
