Re: Torn between 2 great cars!

I'm possitive that I wont be working on the car myself. It sucks cause I have been trying to educate myself on the RX8 for the past 5 months; Thats how bad I wanted to buy that car; Just to come to realize it might not be the car for me.

Re: Torn between 2 great cars!

about working on a rotary, wouldnt a mazda dealer have a special technician to work on a rotary? yeah, of course the dealer would charge you like nothing else for labor, but they should have a special technician at the dealer since they make the engine.

Re: Torn between 2 great cars!

I used to work at a Mazda dealership. The would send some of their techs to Rotary training seminars but I dont think it did much. To master the rotary engine, one needs to spend time actually taking apart stuff and rebuilding it. The majority of RX-7 owners probably don't take their cars to shop to get it fixed so most Mazda techs dont have that much experience working on rotarys.

The RX-8 and the G35 are really very different vehicles. RX-8 is lighter, cheaper, and has a higher redline. The G35 is much more luxurious, and a bit stronger. You'll have a hard time finding a G35 for much less then $32,000 while most RX-8s are sub 3k. The newly redesigned renisis engine in the RX-8 is easily the best rotary in existence, and won an engine of the year award. I'd personally buy the RX-8 and spend the rest on tuning it, but thats cause im a sports car guy. If you like the G35 you should also check out the BMW 325i or 325Ci, i belive it handles much better.
