pioneer or sony

since i've been wanting a system in my car, i've always wanted all sony. mostly cause i trust sony and the red/black look is what i want in my car.
i have a sony cd player, but recently i bought a pair of pioneer 6x9's and a pair of pioneer 6 1/2's because pioneer appealed to me at the moment i was in Best Buy.

Which are better quality products between the two? sony or pioneer?

and please, no other brand name suggestions

Re: pioneer or sony

I have Pioneer all around in my car and it sounds great, but I've never really checked out Sony speakers. Honestly you should buy whatever sounds best to you!

Re: pioneer or sony

all the sony's i've heard sound good...

maybe i'm not the best trained ear, but the Sony's i want don't sound bad.

i don't understand why some people are down on Sony. maybe there's some sort of longevity problem, or quality problems that i missed.

the sony 6x9's have a higher wattage and max wattage than the pioneers i have, and for i think a cheaper price.

anyways, the girl at Best Buy said I could exchange them if I wanted, since it's been less than 30 days.

i'll think about it

thanks guys.

Re: Re: pioneer or sony

the reason i don't like sony is because the things that i have had in the past blew or just sounded bad. but if you like them go get em. its really what sounds good to you, but there are alot of other speakers out there that are so much better than pioneer or sony and at around the same price if you know where to look.

There's only one good sony product I've seen in the last several years...and they discontinued that!

It was those Mobile ES bottlecap subs (If you've seen them you know what I'm talking about)

Those were actually pretty nice subs they get a
Everything else sony gets a huge

And don't even get me started on Sony decks...unless you get one of the lucky ones those things skip like a fag in a parade... *lol*

Re: pioneer or sony

This is an easy answer, PIONEER! i wouldn't even touch the sony products. They have only been in the car scene for a little while, Pioneer has been in the game for years. Sony sounds like shit when it comes to car audio. If u want to buy something sony, buy a playstation or something.

haw haw

i exchanged 2 pairs of speakers today, and got cash back. The sonys were cheaper (on sale today, lucky) and posted higher wattage ratings.

when it comes to sony car audio it is best to stay away from them, I have had sony, pioneer, jensen, and power acoustic component system.
Out of all those the components were the best for an amped system. the next was pioneer for amped or unamped that include even their decks the pioneer decks last a lot longer and are one of the most durable decks on the market. I know my pioneer deck had been through 2 car accidents that were so bad that the deck flew out of the dashboard and when I decided to try Sony since I got the deck for ten dollars new just happen to be an opened item at Sears never sold. My pioneer was throwed into a box with a bunch of junk and when i lost the faceplate to the sony and tried the pioneer it worked with no problem. Out of all the sony and pioneer equipment that i have used pioneer is definitely a winner and I usually wind up getting rid of the sony. Sony also have a bad problem overrating their products. The jensen 6.5's did better than sony at handling an amp they were not big on bass but their was a lot less distortion.
