Got to Drive a PT Cruiser Convertible
Hey,
Got to drive an Electric Blue PT Cruiser Convertible today - this is a kick ass car! Drove it with the top down (nice March Sun afternoon in NM, perfect convertible weather). Everything is familiar for those that have a PT Cruiser. Loved the feel when I mashed the right peddle - it hauls. Nice low rumble from the exhaust when driving at "normal" speed, much better than my 2001 w/Borla cat back. The rear lift area is more of a trunk, cut the normal PT cargo area off at the top shelf position and you get an idea of what it looks like. The "trunk" has a release located in the glove box. The car has the same great leg room for the rear seat positions. The Black convertible top on the Electric Blue exterior color is controlled by a dash swith next to the rear wiper control. You must release the top by twisting a large "D" handle located above the rear view mirror then the top is moved to the stowed position and covered with the supplied boot giving a very clean appearence. They let me poke and prod and play, put the top down and up and down, opened the hood and poked around, played with the 6 disc CD player.
Then came the down side - their price is $29,745.00. That doesnt seem too bad considering these are the very first ones available, they would probably come down $1-2K with some serious negotiations. I was disappointed in the lack of willingness to offer any kind of trade in value on my cherry 2001 Limited, so they still have the convertible and I still have my Patriot Blue 2001 Limited.
