Exclamation Lude Worth Putting money into ?

Hey, Thanks for taking a look

It is a 3rd Gen 89 Honda Prelude SI 4ws worth putting money into ? The engine and Transmission were both rebuilt 2 years ago. It currently has 272,727 miles (598 000km) on it(LOTS!).The miles are mostly high way miles as my grandfather mostly traveled between his two houses throughout the 14 years(about 200 miles). The engine is a B20A5 DOHC with no mods and I think it is completely stock parts. Almost no rust except in trunk, but that can be easily fixed. The stock body kit in front is cracked pretty bad in one small area(right below left fog light), but I am planning to buy the combat kit from Andy’s Auto sport (Andysautosport.com). It is Currently White and I am also planning on painting it(no idea what color what, may just stick with white any suggestions ??) The car was only owned by my grandfather and he took great care of it.
I love all the preludes and was wondering if this lude is worth putting money into it. It’s a nice ride with great handling and not bad for driving around.

Any suggestions about what to do with this car will be appreciated
(body’s kits paint motor sell keep replace)

Thanks

If it is in as good of shape as you say it is. I think its a great idea. I bought a rebuilder of my own that was in fair shape with low miles and its come a long way. If you are looking for anything to fix up your lude let me know. I can send you in the right direction

Re: Lude Worth Putting money into ?

Cool Thanks replying

Yes it is in great condition. Nothing major at all. Do you have any recommendations on color to paint it ? http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/326922 that is the same body kit that I am going to get, I think that the black looks good, but again no idea what color to paint it. Another thing is that I am a big nOOb when it comes to this stuff as this is my first car . So all information is appreciated

The only thing that I am worried about is the suspension. Since it has so many miles on it do you think that it is going to be a problem ? So far I have a problem with the front left lower control arm and the tie rod to I think. It broke and well moving it pulled the cv shaft out of the trany. So I am planning on fixing that first and replacing both cv shafts and universal joints. Luckily for me this happened well I was turning into my driveway. Thank good.

Another thing is that while I was turning there was knocking sound coming from the front, only while I was turning. This is probably something to do with the problem with the control arm or tie rod right ? Again keep in mind I am a nOOb when it comes to this stuff and I am still in the learning process.

Thanks again

What color is it now? If it is light I would stay with a light color. If its dark I would stay with dark. As for the control arm and and tie rod. It could very well be. I had the same problem with my 88. I replaced them and replaced all of the worn bushings with energy suspension bushings. That is a nice kit you are looking at. I have this kit http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/358508 . I bought it for $480.00 shipped. I put the front on today and the rear was put on last tuesday. The sides will go on last because I have neons to put on first.

This is my car so far 100% stock

Looks high of the ground because there is a brick sitting under it to keep
Pressure of that front left wheel. So that makes the whole car look high of the ground.

Okay thanks for the tip. Do you have web site were i could look at that body kit or order it from ? Still not sure what kit i am going to buy yet.
I also kinda like the white but like i said still not sure

Thanks again

I think white looks good on a prelude. It will be easy to paint 2. You can see that kit at cyberbestbuy.com. I bought mine from ebay from cyberbestbuy. There a few listed now. They also have Z3 fenders listed for 88-91 preludes. That would look right. Do you have an instant messenger?

Re: Lude Worth Putting money into ?

I think you should paint the red from the tail lights that are on the trunk. Like the black prelude on car domain. I thought that looked pretty cool...
