Hi Folks,
I have a 98 Yukon and want to put some auxiliary lights out back...attached to underside of rear bumper - I will use a toggle switch. If you have done a similar job to your GMC, what did you connect to for power? Any locations out back that I can safely tie into? I dont want to run a power line all the way to front of Yukon...I am thinking of putting the aux switch somewhere out back...or in the cockpit area...what do you suggest? Thanks! Eirik 98 Yukon SLT |

Re: Want to wire some Aux lights out back...
if you try to tie it off of anything like tailights, etc you may end up blowing a fuse somewhere along the line...i wired some hella 550's under the bumper and just ran the wires all the way back and put the switch next to the radio where all the empty pop out spaces are. you want to make sure you do it right the first time cause it is a pain in the ass if you have to go back through and figure out which wire isn't right or which fuse blew

Re: Want to wire some Aux lights out back...
i've got a 95 yukon and up next to the windshield of the driver's side there should be a fuse box in the engine compartement...your best bet is to either run off of either Aux A or Aux B (both have their own 30amp fuse unless they changed the fuse box in 96 along with the new vortec engine. i would drill a hole in the firewall pretty close to that so that it will come out up under the brake and gas pedals or near them and then run the wires up through the back of the dash to the pop out squares made for switches and accessories. if you plan on using the aux a and b for something else or if you don't have them run the wire straight to the battery...good luck

Re: Want to wire some Aux lights out back...
do you have the 7-pin trailer wiring?? if you do theres a big black 12v const wire. i'd hook a relay up to it then use a 3-tire toggle switch.
