accord v6 or hyundai tib gt v6

whats up all thinking about getting a new car. wants some opinions 1st. Right now I have an accord 96 lx non v-tec unfortunately. want more power stock wise. I torn between the next gen from my current car accord coupe v6 preferably 2000 model unless you suggest a different year same body style. Or the new Hyundai tiburon 2003 or 2004. What do you guys suggest. I really like that new tib but the hyundai thing scares me. Plus the accord looks awsome hooked up the right way which is what i plan to do with either or. But perfromance wise and moding wise I don't really know whaich way I want to go. One thing I would like to kow which would be best moding engine wise outside of nitrous and engine swap. I don't know the weight differences between the 2 either but I hear the tib is heavy for it's class. If anyone could post some side by side stats it would be appreiciated as well as give a site where I could find this type of info to compare car stats. THANX.

i say u get the accord.. i have a 96 accord right now right.. its a ex sedan.. and its.. yea.. its pretty slow.. and i raced my friends 2000 v6 accord coupe.. he burned me like nothing.. and jus to let you know.. the tiburon is about the same (speed) as the new celica gts.. gotta love the way the accord coupe looks

yeah I luv the way the accord looks especiaaly kitted out but that tib looks sharp too. As far as its speed to the celica is that a good thing or a bad thing. is the tib v6 faster than the accord v6. I know the accord has 200hp and the tib I hear has 183hp but is the weight diff that great between the 2 though? because the more recent prelude v-tech I think has 200hp also but its a 4cyl. Plus I heard some opinions and more than one persons with tibs say they burned stock v6 mustangs and unmodded preludes with the tib v6 also. that sounds like a potential beast.

o yea when i say its like the celica.. i just mean speedwise they are about the same.. so when ur compare the tiburon to the accord.. its like comparing the celica to the accord.. same speed dats it

i would get the the tiburon. hyundai is starting to get its reputation. i never really have heard of a aftermarket for the accord, but i know there is one for the tiburon and it is still growing. plus, imo, the tiburon looks much more sporty.

i would drop an h22 prelude engine in your current car. the 2k accord v6's are nice but you can't get them 5 speed.

well im not tryin to bag on the hyundai or anything but just to let you know kia (south korean car company) is hyundai's parent company.. and their car's aren't exactly the best.. they aren't fast.. or reliable.. maybe in a few years when their cars are atleast as good as japanese cars.. well i see tiburons around.. n they look ok.. but its like.. the fastest car they have.. n its only as fast as the toyota celica GTS

i dont really look at parent companies, cuz if they make basically their own car and have their own name, that is their car, not somebody elses. plus, audi owns lamborghini, and that doesnt make lamborghini any worst of a company (now i like audi, but i just like lamborghini a lot better). but a little bit of me can see where you are coming from, but i think hyundai is becoming more of an independent company.

you guys remember way back when honda used to be today's "hyundai" or "kia". now look at where honda is, along with toyota they're the benchmark for quality and reliability. some of the best-built cars available. not to say these are the BEST cars (that's a relative term).

hyundais are getting much better each year and i wouldnt' be surprised if 15 years from now the words 'quality and reliability' and hyundai fit well in the same sentence, unlike they do at this point.

GET A FRIGGIN ACCORD!!! You don't even need a thought process for this decision. The accord, any accord IMO, is a better choice than the Tiburon. Especially a 2000 accord v6. Not only will it have more power, but it will have better refinement and reliability. I don't know what del is talking about, but to say that Honda was ANYTHING like Hyundai currently is, is simply laughable.

The tiburon has a v6 yes, but the small amount of power for the displacement of the engine isn't the "best" choice for anyone. You could pick up a celica GT-S with more power from a smaller engine that is 500 pounds lighter as well. IMO, the tiburon has looks that will be outdated in a few short years and in the market of small japanese coupes, there are FAR better choices to be made than ANY hyundai.

i think that del is right. every company has to start out somewhere. so honda did start out and hyundai is just starting out so they were like them. but hey, if you like hondas so much, then you probably wont listen to anybody else.

Not that I think Hondas are the best damned thing on the road, but lets not get confused here and say Honda is or was anything like Hyundai.

get the whole idea of poorly built generic cars out of your head for the moment. honda, and japanese makes in general, took some time for the american market to accept and take seriously. years and years ago, people laughed at you if you drove a honda or even toyota. much like people do with hyundai and kia owners today. that's what i'm talking about. i would say when honda first came out, their quality then was better than hyundai or kia quality when the korean makes entered the US market for the first time. but for the most part, the reputation started the same. and over the past 10 years or so, honda has really stepped up and established themselves as a premier car make and earned the respect of consumers and critics alike. which is why you see them everywhere you turn. my point is, i can see hyundai doing just that in 10 or 15 years from now.

Go Accord the resale value will be better in 5-6 years from now... But Hyundai does have a 10-year warranty that I don't think they would put on a BRAND of cars if they were not quality. My 88 will give a Tib a run for the money...
