Question HELP ME! 1996 stereo rear speakers

i just recently purchased a 1996 cavalier and the rear speakers are blown. I tried to get them out, but they dont come out threw the trunk. I folded my back seat down and started taking off the panels blocking the carpet pad in the rear window. But it looks like i would have to take off all the plastic interior panels on the sides of my car to even get them out. Does anyone know how to do this?? or maybe knows a website with detailed pictures on doing it?

Re: HELP ME! 1996 stereo rear speakers

you don't have to take the panels off. Just remove the pushpins holding the carpeted section down, I think there is 4. Then you can push the carpeted section up enough to remove the 6x9's. They are held in by clips. Just be gentle doing this as not to put creases in the carpet. I'd suggest instead of replacing the 6x9's upgrade your front speakers with a 5 1/4 and a tweeter, and add a sub in the back. Much better sound than you'll ever get outta those 6x9's
