Re: Help with design project, rate my sketches

Thanks again for the replies, I got some new markers, and I eagerly tested them to render a design sketch. The wheels aren't perfect but that will come in time with more practice. This is not the final form but it is making me really anxious to start the model.

Re: Help with design project, rate my sketches

tokes99, you got to keep doing those markers. i know it seems impossible right now. but it can happen. it is similar to using watercolors -one of most difficult mediums to use, nevermind master.

right now you are very heavy-handed. but the lightness of touch and nuance will develop. first, you must get to know the medium. and chalk up mileage with your muscle memory. use your ENTIRE arm, not wrist, to make strokes.

hang in there, buddy. if you want to know anything about markers, i will tell you. i mean pretty much anything. brands, how to use them, special f/x, etc. i use them constantly in my storyboarding career.

Re: Help with design project, rate my sketches

Yeah, I have not totally got out of the habit of using my wrist, but it makes it hard not to because I want it be to perfect you know. I am using prisma colors right now because most people have told me they were easier to use but eventually I will get some trias.

I have a lot of difficulty when trying to use the thick end, I alway get two streaks instead of a single thick streak, which is very annoying. However I will keep you in mind, and will definitely ask you for tips to make it extra "spiffy!"

tokes, you will not ever be "perfect" so forget it. nobody is perfect. you must begin to use your entire arm. you must. you will not get any better if you resist that.

the streaking is because you do not have control yet. the marker is controlling YOU.

i can tell you, being "awesome" is better than trying to be perfect.

Something you got to think about in your designs are visibility, head room, getting in & out, where to ride it, and safety, all things that this lacks in.

Re: Help with design project, rate my sketches

Though it is may be hard to tell from my sketches, those things you mentioned have been major considerations. Especially safety, that is why they all have a low center of gravity, for more stability. At this point i am just experimenting with the form, and i have done some research on average percentile heights & weights for children. I am now trying to incorporate addition functions like so that it "transforms" into a storage unit or some other form.
