4wd light wont go off

I had my 1988 truck in 4wd over the weekend and everything was ok. It disengaged and was fine. Yesterday when i was going home the 4wd light came on down on the floor by the lever while i was riding down the road, but its not in 4wd. Is there any sensor that might be stuck or anything i can check besides taking the light bulb out so it wont stay on.

which light? the 2wd vs 4wd single point light or the 'system engaged' light that lights up the diagram?

the single point light is triggered by a pin switch on the xfer case, the bigger diagram light is triggered by a pin switch on the transaxle

its the bigger light on the diagram that show that the 4wd is engaged only when you have the system in 4wd. This is the one that wont go off.

the 'big light' that lights up the front wheels in the diagram is a simple stupid in switch in the front transaxle - should be easy to probe and test
