LS? How do I tell?

I bought a 2001 Chevy Impala from a salvage yard. How do I tell if it's an LS model?

Assuming 2001 and 2003 are the same which they are carryovers so for the most part they are. There is some simple ways of figureing this out. 1.)engine, LS's have 3.8liter v6, sedan has 3.4liter(unless it was a option for the sedan to have the 3.8 but I don't think it was)
2.)spoiler, if it has one its a LS or someone added it
3.)does it say on the decal, my 2003 LS says LS right on the trunk next to the Impala
4.)foglights, its a LS if it has them

those should answer it or you could probably take it somewhere and they could tell you by the vin number or something.

Re: LS? How do I tell?

The 5th VIN digit will be "H" on an LS with the 8th digit being "K" designating the 3.8 engine.

All base models are "F" and "E" for the 5th and 8th VIN digits unless some special order models may see the "K" 3.8 engine.
