Would appreciate any suggestions. I would be interested in getting for my next car a BMW series 3xx. What would be the most reliable, and most bang for the buck model? I would be more inclined in my budget to get something in the the nineties vintage. Would prefer a six cylinder. Preferable auto but will not rule out manual. I am not that familiar with all the different models/features. Also, I know there will be some possibly heavy mileage on some. What would be my mileage cutoff point? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Re: Advice on what to get
You would appreciate the extra torque of the 328i engine over the 325/318, although I may be biased...
As far as engine longevity, a properly maintained E36 engine will last over 200,000. The main thing to look for is: annual inspections, documented maintainance, etc..
