I thought they were the only bird who COULD fly backwards.

True story: We were doing a presentation in junior high. Everybody had to pick an animal and give a 2 minute speech about the animal. A girl picked the penguin and in her speech she said "penguins are special because, despite bieng fat, they can still fly" In my mind I was thinking "Despite bieng stupid, you can still remember to breathe"

Hummingbirds rule, Thanks Kat.

thats weird. i live in oklahoma and i have hummingbirds at my house constantly. there are at least 10 to 12 around the feeder the entire day. they sip the nectar, fight each other and do the nasty every now and then. they geto to fighting over a perch and they kill each other. you can walk out on my porch every morning and it look like one had been shot in the head with a shotgun. a few of them attacked my dog (chihuaha) while it was asleep under the feeder. they tore up his ears and got him in the eyes a few times too. he was f*cked up.

Holy crap, you got rabid hummingbirds

j/k I've seen a few of them get into it, but have never come across a dead one. There is a honeysuckle bush just off to the side of my garage and the bird pictured above will feed from it. Last weekend when we cleaned out the garage she was buzzing around and came within a few feet of my Pug but neither reacted to each other
