Cold Start Problem = Don't really need to worry

that happens with a lot of maximas, or i should say most of maximas over 3 or 4 years.

you don't really need to worry about it as long as it starts by pushing the gas as you start the engine.

but if you have same problem in the summer(meaning hot days), you probably want to fix it.

cost you from $150 to $500, depends on what you got to fix. for most of the cases it costs $250, including the labors. the part is (don't really know what it's called) what gives the engine spark.(it's not spark plug)
maxima has 3 of those and if there is something wrong with even one of them, that's what gives you cold start problem. but as i said, don't really need to replace or fix it, unless your mom don't know how to start by pumping the gas.

Re: Cold Start Problem = Don't really need to worry

my cold start problem is with a 2004 Maxima...pushing the gas pedal down does not help....this should not happen with a brand new car...and it has prevented me from getting to work as a result. There is no code being generated and the service manager thinks it could be anything from the crank sensor to something with the engine immobilizer component of the security system.

My 99SE started on the first try since day 1. But, now, 4 years and 60,000 miles later, it has trouble in the cold weather. Sometimes it'll take 2 or 3 tries before turning over if it's been sitting. BUt I agree that it SHOULD NOT be happening on a 2004. That's ridiculous.

if it is the crank positioning sensor there is a recall on it. i just recently had mine replaced for free.

Was the crank positions sensor recall for a 2004 Maxima? My understanding from the dealer is that there is a recall on that part for Altima's but not for Maxima's.
