Have another engine for an Escort...4cyl...not sure of the year...
But, I need another backup car...so, I am wondering if this 1994 body would be worth putting an engine in? I can have an engine put in for <$225. better figure $300. as parts are always needed... I need something that gets good gas milage... What type of milage can I expect on an 1994 4cyl. ? |

Re: Have a chance to buy a 1994 with blown head gasket...$299.
94? I'm not quite sure but I'd usually get between 250-325 miles a tank (sometimes I drive a lot in the city, sometimes a lot on the highway)
It's a good car to have kicking around anyways. If it's in decent shape you could turn around and make a profit on it if you decide you don't like it. Hell, at that price, I'll take two. |

Re: Have a chance to buy a 1994 with blown head gasket...$299.
I'm picking up a 94lx 4 door 5 speed this week end, for $400. it has a good body and only 90k, but a bad head.
I can pick up a good junk yard motor for less than $300, than if you want a new clutch kit add on a nother $120. But they are great cars, good on gas and reliable, I have 2 allready. The only down fall with the 91-96 lx's is the lack of hp, there only 88hp/108 ftlbs. But the 97 2.0 SPI swap is easy and about the same price as a replacement 1.9. With the 2.0 it's a 110hp/125ft lbs, nice and peppy with that, no problems merging on to highways any more. |

I plan on doing something like that. Finding a manual 2dr with a jacked engine and swapping the 2.0. Possibly turbo it later on, it'd be funny to whip up on hondas.

Yeah...I wasn't going to do much to my 98 SE....but I thought F it, why not? It'll be a starter car for me, to learn the tricks of the trade, then move on to bigger and better things. first I plan on getting the stupid dent outta my rear right door, thanks to some drunk Dumb***'s that me and some friends got in a fight w/ a IHOP cuz they were being loud and obnoxious..heh, it's ok, I beat his ***. So that to start w/ on the cosmetic end, but plan on adding a new exhaust, cold air induction system, better plugs and wires...the ones I have now aren't too bad, only a year old, but want something better of course, etc etc etc

Oh, but about the 1.9L...I'd drop in a 2.0 definitely if you find one for virtually the same price, they're obviously newer, and obviously have more HP and torque, so there ya go ;-)
