91' Seat Belt Problems.

I don't know what to do, i'm starting to loose my mind. Whenever i have my car on, it never stops beeping, never. The seat belt light flashes and it beeps. I found the fuse that runs the beeper, but it also runs the the gauges... so that wont work. I don't want to just stop the beeping, allthough that might be what i have to do until i can figre out what the problem is. I have automatic seat belts in my 91 GS, and the drivers side stoped moving and was stuck in the down position one morning.. I manually pushed it up and around so it was in the on position, but that fixed nothing.. I had a feeling this would happen since it started to not move when i opened the door, only when i turned the car on. I had a feeling it was the door switch that was the culprit. I have looked just about everywhere i have access to, and cannont find a problem. I tried pushing the little sensor that tells when the seat belt is in the on positon, and that chnaged the beeping to a slower pace, but then sped up again while i was still holding it down. I'm at a loss for ideas and so is my Auto shop teacher. I'm short on cash (what else is new...) and was hoping to find a way to fix it myself, but i might just cave in and take it somewhere, since i have to drive this every day to school, which totals about an hour in the car every day, with traffic and distance. Any ideas would be great, since i would like to hold on to as much of my money as possible... i need new speakers, since the stock ones vibrate like crazy. If it helps, the passenger side works fine, and its a 1991 Integra GS hatchback 5spd 1.8L DOHC. I'll keep digging to see if i can find anything, but a few more days of the beeping, and i think i'll be ready to drive it off a cliff.

Thanks,
Kevin.

Re: 91' Seat Belt Problems.

Take it to your local honda or acura dealer. The seat belts have a lifetime warranty on them. They fixed my belts that wouldnt retract in my 4th gen for FREE. The owners manual states that they are warranted against defects for the life of your useable life of your car!!

Give it a try. It worked for me and a couple of my friends. Most manufactuors do this warranty so they arent liable for injury.(honda, nissan, toyota, etc.)

Re: 91' Seat Belt Problems.

Look it ur manual, im 99.9999999999999999999% sure that there is a lifetime warranty against defect. But like u said its always worth the call. Plus for me they had to keep it overnight so they gave me a loner car. For the night. Its always worth the try. But they should fix it. At first they were like well it will cost you but then i said about the warranty in the manual, and they said it would be done the next morning. I was like cool. Saved me a couple hundered bucks. More to spend on mods.
lol

Angry grr

well, he said they would have to look at it, so i took it in. The guy walks up, looks at it, doesnt do anything, just opens the door and looks at the belt, walks away to talk to some manager, and then tells me since it locks in place, that its not covered. I swear i would have shot him if i had a gun. WHY COULDNT HE TELL ME THAT OVER THE PHONE. i was in the process of expaling it over the phone, and he interrupted me and said that i would have to bring it in so they could look at it. $95 just to diagnose the problem! thats 1/10 of what i paid for the car, theres now way i'm going to pay that just to figure out whats wrong. Guess i'll have to go back to my plan of disconnecting the beeper or find a local mechanic that will fix it for cheaper... so far, i'm not very impressed with acura at all.. i'm starting to wish i didnt get rid of my old 83' diesel mercedes, because at least the dealer was 5 blocks form my house, i knew them, and they werent assholes. This will def. be the first and last acura i buy. lifetime waranty, yeah right..

my 93 had the same problem ( oh my god the damn beeping!!!) anyway just get some wd-40 and spray up into the track that the belts ride in then if opening and closing the door you find it still doesn't move do it manually a few times till it loosens up and starts doing it with the opening and closing of the door.

Mine would work less when it was really cold,( almost always worked in summer) sometimes it would go like halfway then stop, other times not move at all. anyway my door latch also stopped working on the passenger side so i broke down... ( very cheap... or lazy?) and baught a can of wd-40 and sprayed the seatbelt tracks, and the door latches... anyway no problems since. hope it helps you.

P.S. hope you can understand this as I am very tired right now and probably partially illiterate. haha

I'll try that, but i don't think that will fix it, since it was working perfectly fine and then stopped out of nowhere. I don't even hear it trying to move, but since i have a can of wd40, i'll try it tomorrow morning and see what happens, maybe i can avoid another morning drive of constant beeping... thanks. If that doesn't work, i'll just take the fuse for it out and drive without gauges, since i know i have enough gas to get there and back, and i dont really need a tach... then i'll find somewhere that wont charge $95 just to figure out whats wrong... Thanks again, i'd do just about anything to stop the damn beeping!

i had the same problem with my teg. TAKE IT TO THE DEALER!!!!!!! it is under waranty. mine would just get stuck half way in the track or would not move at all. i took it to the dealer to have them look at it for FREE and told me that i would have to wait for them to order the part. then i asked if they could do something about the beaping, they said no well i figured out how to stop it on my own, by the foot rest on the passenger side of the car under the glove box on the wall you can remove that small panel, behind it is a small box, just disconnect the wires, since we do not have air bags this will not matter. anyways we still have our lap belts. and take it back before you do this and tell them it is covered, show them if you have to or call acura corporate, but do this before you disconnect the wires
i could possibly email you a copy of the work order saying its covered if you need.

I'll find a different dealer and take it to them, and be a little more, shall we say, persuasive if it comes down to it, maybe that work order would help, i'll try a different dealer, since that one was so rude.. thanks.
