02 Sliverado No power steering/brakes
I have a 2002 Silverado 2500HD 8.1 (8100) crew cab with the allison tranny. 16K miles.
Today the power steering/ power brakes quit working all of a sudden. Now the truck wont rev past 3000 rpm. The surp. belt is good and truck runs well still and drives fine other then no power streeing/brakes. Anybody heard of this problem? Any remedy?? |

I can tell you this, today, 1/31/2004, I was making a sharp right hand turn and had no choice but to turn hard lock against the pump as uncoming trafic was coming right at me.
I'm from the old school that taught us never to crank those wheels as pumps could be blown sky high! I have a 2500- 6L (2000) with a full snow plow. After the turn I was shocked to find out that I had no power steering and upon first braking that I had none of those either. This one really puzzles me as the Serpentine belt is fairly new and the both cylinders for the PS and master brake are full. I shut the engine off and restarted and still no PS or brakes. I need this in the middle of Winter with a full plow on and I haven't the foggiest. Perhaps something to do with a relay, a power vacuum, or air pump? Lost in the snow drifts. Logger Logger |

Re: 02 Sliverado No power steering/brakes
cant help with the PS and PBs, but was the truck in park or nuetral when it wouldnt rev past 3000 RPM, or was it in drive? The computer wont let you rev past 3000 in P or N.

The vehicle was in drive and I was making a right hand turn from a gas station onto a highway. Then all went loose! No brakes, no power steering and with these major losses . . . NO idiot lights came on! |
