Thumbs up 4, 6, And Rota Nats, Meremere NZ

Sunday, Left Hamilton at about 5am to avoid traffic, got to meremere at about 4:45 was tailgating a BMW M3 doing about 120kph most of the way so the trip was pretty short (I am overdue to get myself a radar detector). When we got there the carpark was already packed. Some people were keen to camp there for the night (not me)

Anyways Gates open about 7am, got some food in the gut and set up a possie for a good days racing. As we were waiting in line the we saw the RSL Honda and the Croydons GTR drive past us mmmmm

Some of the highlights included

* Blue GTR broke into the 10s racing some 9 second, non street legal rota, he got dicked on but he gave it everything and diddnt give up without a fight.

* NOS powered Harley bike showed off by doing as 7second 1/4, thats the fastest I've ever seen anything go down the strip! Awsome stuff

* RSL as usual gobbled up a gearbox (or too)

* R32 GTR from the Hamilton streets did a personal best of 11.6

* Some guy had to be air lifted from the bike display which unfortunately was the only thing mentioned by the media about the day, bias mother fuckers.

* Bikini Competition turned into the titty competition, was really bad as it was done while croydons was doing a 8.8 second run. had to decide tittys or fast car? DAMMIT!

Anyone else who went got anything to add?

Tim

The blue R32 GTR is owned by Joe Kyle. It is a full street car in full factory trim on road tyres. He's only running 1.2 bar of boost as he didn't want to break into the 10's and have to put a cage in his car. He was also having a bit of problems with the launch control but oh well did good as he got 2nd place in the 4wd street class.

Croydon Wholesaler's GTR was running a brand new turbo setup. The massive single dwarfs a T88-34D they had before and were only using NOS to get off the line the rest was all turbo. Glen was getting wheel spin for nearly the length of the track and still ran high 8's at over 145mph.

Thats the thing tho, once you hit 10s you can't race again until you have a 6 point cage, and race in pro street. Still Joes run was pretty impressive, I got a good a look at it in the pits in one of the night speed drag wars late last year.
