heater not working right??

Hey i dunno if this is they way civic are in the winter but my cars not heating up enough to make me shut it off for a bit. I have the car running full blast on pure heat and its only making it comfortable enough to drive. Even on long trips its not warming up as much as i think it should be Ive heard of people sticking carboard in front of their rads and stuff. Does anyone have a take on what could be the problem??

DONT WAIT!!!! Check your blower motor and all fuses!!! i say fuses first but me and my girlfriend were driving her accord all winter up until a few days ago when i started driving mine again, but that same thing was happening before winter, and during winter, guess what happend, blower motor went out, we still havnt replaced it and have been driving in Seriously low temperatures with no heating system. This cause my girlfriend to get a case of hyothermia, WE'VE learned, take care of it right away.

Take out your glove box to get easier access, and the blower is the thing on the right (looking at the hole where your glovebox used to be), and the motor is at the center of the bottom, and it is just 3 or 4 bolts, and it drops out the bottom.

Also, check your thermostat, it may be stuck open, causing the car to not heat up as much as it should. Personally, I suspect the thermostat, not the blower motor judging by the symptoms that you have described.

Follow the upper radiator hose twords the engine, and the thermostat is in that housing. it's just a few bolts (2 or 3). Just take off the the front of the housing, don't take off the assembly from the head. Thermostats are relatively cheap too, just make sure you get a gasket with it.

Its actually the lower radiator hose that connects to the thermostat.
Its held on by two bolts (plus one for the wiring harness) But if you do replace it make sure you replace the gasket too.

Re: heater not working right??

Holy who said to undo the top hose!!! As soon as i undid it it blew all over the place! F*ck! Anyways who said changing the thermostat is easy? Its so hard to get at. Anyways thats what the problem was, the old one was full of junk and was hard to move.25 bucks later and no feeling in both hands. its replaced. I also threw sum cardbord in front of the rad to make sure she heats up enough

Hey as long as your car is blowing air into your car your blower motor is fine. Is the engine warming up? If thats what youre talking about then get a new thermostat. But if the actual heater isnt working you probably need a new heater core.
