Question Low Oil Pressure @ Idle - '96 750iL

I have a '96 750iL. Last snowfall I took my 15 yr old to a large parking lot to let her "play" on the slippery stuff to give her an idea how different it is to drive on snow and ice. While skidding around she approached red-line and since then I get the STOP! ENG OIL PRESS warning, but only at idle, and only when the engine has warmed up. It goes off around 750 - 800 RPM. I had the oil and filter changed shortly after this but it did not help.
Any ideas? It must be something common, because the same thing happened in my '93 Dakota with my other daughter.

i have same problem some weeks ago. First i think that oil pump is wrecked, but problem was untightened oil pump screw, chek it out, because it isn't good to drive with low oil pressure. Second thing is damaged oil pressure sensor. It's located near the oil filter.

Thnx. Where exactly is the oil pump screw? I guess I really mean where exactly is the oil pump? How do I get to the screws to check them?

Re: Low Oil Pressure @ Idle

rectently purchased a 1995 b740i for my daughter. within a few days she had her first problem. no oil pressure. none at all!!!

first thing the mechanic said was that the bolts holding the oil pump in place in this particular have a tendancy to back out, thus the oil pump loosens, and creates a LOW or NO oil pressure situation.

he pulled the pan on the bottom of the engine, and he was correct. however, in my case the bolt directly above the chain driven oil pump sprocket, had loosened so much that it dropped onto the chain as it turned the oil pump sprocket. the sprocket was bent and the chain broken, but otherwise no damage.
