Re: Super Porsche Parts Are Here
Doesnt that hurt to spend $525 on a model? I only spend like 50

$525, plus the cost of the kit, plus materials, yea...it's a lot of money, but I've been building models for cose to 30 years. This project is only gonna happen once, and I want it done right. Many people spend that much on beer in a year. Not me. It just depends on how much you want something. More pics are coming

A closer look at Project Super Porsche...fixed the pics
I thought you all would like a closer look at Scale Motorsports' detail kit for Tamiya's big Porsche.
In general, there are way too many parts to post an indepth review here, so I will try to keep it short. Instructions: The instructions coincide with the Tamiya kit instructions. There are 29 steps. They appear to be clear and easy to follow. There are some photoetch parts that are not covered by the instructions (seat belt buckles, antenna base), SMS does have a web site for builders of this kit and is planning on supplementing the instruction sheet there. Also included is a separate booklet that has schematic's of the following: the lubrication system, fuel injection system, throttle linkage, engine electrical, ignition system, and cooling systems. These are in color and easy to understand. Decals: SMS has included a complete decal sheet in Martini livery. The decals are beautiful, in perfect register. All of the smaller decals are also included (gages, labels, etc.). CD-ROM: Over 100 pictures of the actual car on CD-ROM are included for reference. Pictures are high resolution and include many useful shots of all areas of the car except the chassis. The only picture of the suspension are of what is visible in the wheel well. Machined Parts: The kit comes with over 150 machined metal parts. These include everything from valve stems for the rims to the shift linkage. Some of these parts are extremly tiny, such as, hood pins, hub dogs, and dash buttons. A full set of metal pulleys and front and rear shocks are also included. I particularly like the hub shafts that allow the wheels to be removed and re-installed on the completed car. All of these parts seem to be machined to an almost jewelry-type quality. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...6/f9f041df.jpg Photoetch: http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...7/f9f03b69.jpg This picture shows the beautiful brass wheel centers. These are sandwiched between two beautiful turned aluminum rims. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...8/f9f03b6b.jpg This picture shows the disc brakes and pedal assemblies. They are in a nickel-plated metal. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...f/f9f03b6f.jpg This picture shows the wire looms, various interior parts, gages, and body mesh. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...d/f9f03b75.jpg This picture shows body mesh, radiators, and hub details. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...0/f9f03b78.jpg This picture shows seat belt buckles, radiators, alternator, etc. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...5/f9f03b7b.jpg This picture shows window trim, more wheel details, and body emblems. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...2/f9f03b7e.jpg These are the beautifully turned rims. I'm very impressed with the quality of these parts. As I start to build, I will post more pics. There are literally hundreds of parts that I did not show to keep this short. If you use the [img] tags the images should show for you. Just put [img] in the front of each image url and [/img] behind each image url and they should appear
