Custom Kit or FMAX?

I am debating on whether or not I should make up my own turbo kit or if i should buy the FMAX kit. The peices to the FMAX kit seem to be great. If i were to build my own, I am concerned mainly about engine management, I dont wanna fork over $1500 for a stand alone, yet...probably the AEM so I'd probably just go w/ a chip. If i got the FMAX kit, itd come already tuned. Also, the intercooler set up would have to be custom made which is something I could go about doing but the quality wouldnt be as good and not to mention getting a blow off valve onto it might pose some dificutly. Id also have to decide on whether id want a blow off valve or a by pass valve. I would be doing this to a Prelude w/ vtec engine. If anyone thinks the Si version is better please let me know and why, becuase I orginally thought, and still do that the Vtec is better but now I'm hearing information on the non-vtecs being better. I did talk to one person, he said that the cams on the vtec tend to deprive the engine of air at high rpms because their lobs dont leave the valves open long enough so putting in a new cam shaft could solve this problem. Please respond and any opinions are greatly appriecated.
