Exclamation Left Front Wheel Noise

I have a 96 Blazer and this problem just started this week Monday. When driving, either fast or slow, a high pitched repetitive squeal sound is coming from the left front wheel. It changes with the speed that you're driving, i.e. the more speed = faster, more repetitive sound. Also, when the brake is applied, the noise stops....let go of the brake and the noise returns. I was thinking the front end bearings are loose? Any input on this is very much appreciated.

Thanks
MT

I had the same problem.
When I took the wheel off, the problem was that the rotor
wasnt cut correctly (it wasn`t cut all the way to the inside) so
the pads would rub agaist a ruff, uncut part of the rotor
and make the high pitched screchign noise.
You could waist time and pull your hair out trying
to file/grind it down(doesnt work anyway),or you can just
replace the rotor, in which case you would have to replace
the pads with it(you do breakjobs in pairs right and left side, at the same time<< duh).

If you really hate the noise you can buy new rotors and new pads
and put them on yourself for around $50 or you can have it done at a local garage for who knows how much.

By the way the reason it probably didn`t start making the noise
since your last breakjob until now is that the pads probably didnt wear down the rotor far enough to hit a hard spot in the metal, like it is doing now

Re: Left Front Wheel Noise

Sounds like you need a brake job and the squealer is hitting the rotor!

Thank you both for your input. I took the car in and I need new front brakes. The total amount to fix this problem will be around $400. Thanks again gang...

mine started that a few days ago, my dad looked at it for me, and i guess he said that the reason it makes a annoying noise like that is because there is a warning bar telling u when u need a brake job... the noise finally stopped, guess i should get that done soon oh well.....
