Unhappy MTX Custom Speaker Enclosure for Dakota?

I have a 2003 Dakota R/T Club cab and recently pruchased an MTX custom made speaker enclosre which should fit under the back seat in place of the tool tray. It does NOT, however, fit in my truck. It is MTX part nuber DDXP201. I have talked with MTX customer service several times, and the dealer even ordered a second enclosre to make sure I had the correct one. MTX said that they changed the design in April of 2003 to accommodate revised seat bracket placement in the 2003 Dakota. I do have the latest MTX design (shipped directly from them on Jan 5, 2004), but it still doesn't fit in the R/T. The date of manufacture for my R/T is Aug 2002, so the new design should work.

Has anyone had a similar Experience?

Is the 2003 R/T Club Cab interior design, specifically in rear seat mounting, different from the other (SLT/SXT/Sport) 2003 club cab designs?

I haven't had time to seek out other Dakota club cabs to see for myslef, but thought someone here might have a quick answer.

Thanks.

Thumbs down It really doesn't fit.

After doing quite a bit of investigation, and conferring with MTX and their manufacturing subcontractor, it really DOES NOT fit the 2003/2004 model Dakta Club Cab . . . REGARDLESS of what the product info, web site, or salesman may tell you!!!

For what it's worth, the production subcontractor says that they will now do a redesign and have a new version in about two months. Don't hold your breath, though; they said that in April 2003, too.
