Smile 17" Wheels with suspension kit

Hey all, I have been building Mustangs all my life, and thought it was time for a change, so I picked up a 88 Bmw 325 2 door, about a week ago. To begin mods on this, I am planning to do suspenion and wheels first. However, I have some questions if any may know. From the research I have done thus far, wheels should be 4-100 bolt pattern with a 38m offset. I'm planning to put 17inch wheels on it, and lower it 1.5 in the front and rear. Does anyone know how well this setup will work, and if I could lower the car anymore and not have any issues with rubbing?
