After market gauges

Ok. Now I need a lil advice. I have a 1987 Ranger w/ 2.3l efi. I have a triple gauge kit mounted and my volts wired. Im preparing to connect my oil and temp (when the snow goes away) BUT... I dont know if I can just disconnect the stock gauges at the block and plug my new connections in their place? Or are the gauges in my machine attached to the computer in such a fashion that altering these 2 gauges connections will render undesired results?
