dual intake??

ok I've always wondered about this... so I figured I'd ask, this may sound stupid but just bare with me for a bit.

ok so what would happen if you put like a y-pipe on your intake and had two intakes going from 2 pipes into 1 then the throttle? if that doesn't make sense I made a quick picture in paint to maybe help a bit.

yellow arrows pointing where a y-pipe would be, where I added blue would be the other intake pipe, and where I added red would be the other filter... any ideas on this or reasons why it would or wouldn't work?

you would have to place the MAF after the two pipes merged.

but one must ask oneself, why???

there really isnt a need for dual cones suppling air to the engine......You only run into problems with air intake restrictions when your in 900+ hp supras, skylines....... even then that car is not streetable 90% of time and you dont worry about an air filter.......just put a rubber cover over the turbo inlet to protect from dust when its parked.

You would probably lose some low end torque because of how open the intake would be. When you stab the throttle, the available air would have less velocity, thereby losing that precious torque.

Re: dual intake??

I just had never seen it done or talked about so I thought I'd see what everyone had to say... I didn't plan on doing it anyway, I figured it would lose torque but maybe gain on the high end... but I have an rx-7 I already have high end and I need to keep all my torque so it was out of the question anyway...
