fighting speeding ticket

i just got a speeding ticket the other night and i am thinking about fighting it because the cop didnt even use a radar, it just says aprox 60+ mph. Has anyone ever fought a speeding ticket and have any tips. Also i remember there being a link on AF that was about beating speeding tickets, but of course i didnt read it, anyone else read it. oh yea i live in CA so anyone who lives in CA could probably be the most help. thanks

Yeah, you can. I remember reading an article in like super street or sport compact. The guy asked for the court date to be moved and asked for the calibration documents for the radar and made it a big mess. In the end the officer ddint even show up(). He wasnt sure though if it was because the officer was scared, or he was simply on vacation. Goodluck though.

Re: fighting speeding ticket

What I have been told is that if you you are an attorney you can call the police station or whatever and request the officers training dates because they are public knowledge. (If your a lawyer, otherwise I believe they don't have to tell you) Once you have this information you can have your court date changed with the excuse that something came up or something. Change the date to one of the officers training days, he won't be able to make the court appearance and you win by default.

Never tested it out (Haven't gotten a ticket), but I am told it works. But you must either be an attorney or have an attorney call for you, you could maybe try yourself but I think you could be arrested for impersinating (sp) an attorney.

i heard from alot of friends that just pay for the ticket but write a check like $20 over what the cost of the ticket really is and then they send you a return check for the change. when you recieve the return check dont cash it in and until you do the ticket wont go on your record. Two of my friends have successfully done this trick and it worked both times. He was saying somthing about it as to be in another state or somthing and they dont send it to your state until you cash in the check. the changin court date works well to but you might not get lucky.

Re: fighting speeding ticket

Simply fighting a ticket is not illegal, nor fraud of the government, if they tried some trickey way it might be considered that, but i highly doubt the government would go after someone for that unless they were stealing money or doin something really stupid. my info is self supplied btw, im a 3rd year criminal justice student.

im assuming that since there was no radar and no cars arround me to gauge my speed by that this cop won't have a case.

Re: fighting speeding ticket

Was the officer pacing you or was he stopped? All cruisers and interceptors have calibratd speedometers and officer are qualified to make a judgment of your speed based on their own speedometer. At least in CO. I know a few people caught be this and hey tried to fight it to no avail. If he was pacing you try something tricky casue you will need another defense.
