Car shifts into Overdrive too early

I had the ground in my car fixed and this required the transmission to be pulled out. Since this has been done and fixed the car now shifts into Overdrive to early, and it did not do this prior to be fixed. It shifs in around 40 miles per hour causing the RPMS to drop to about 1,000, so you really have to push the gas to get it back up to where you need it to move. I understand I can just shut overdrive off, but I am wondering why I didn't have to do this before the transmission was pulled down. I would like to not have to keep that annoying light on all the time. Is this an easy fix? Any suggestions? THX!
