How to find SRS codes

There is a connecter under the dash on the passenger side that is used to put a jumperwire across the connectors. With the ignition turned off, connect the two parts of the connector together with a piece of wire, turn the ignition to the on position. The srs light will come on, then start flashing slow, then fast. It will provide codes used in diagnosis. As on mine - 9 long flashes and 2 short flashes means that there is an intermitent power problem to the SRS computer module... I wish I had the all-data DVD-ROM - it has all this information...

Re: SRS WARNING light

To reset the SRS light, here are the cliff notes -

1. bend a paper clip into a 'U' shape to create a loop
2. disconnect the yellow plug in your fuse box under the steering wheel and insert the paperclip into the plug that is now hanging there to complete the circuit
3. turn the ignition on and the SRS light will stay on for 6 seconds, then go off - disconnect the paperclip within 4 seconds after that and the light will come back on
4. reconnect the paperclip within 4 seconds and the SRS light will go off again
5. within another 4 seconds of it going off, disconnect the paperclip and the light will blink twice and it will be done

If you don't get it the first time....repeat steps 1-5 again until the SRS light goes off, this saves you a money and time. Good Luck!

Smile Re: Re: SRS WARNING light

It worked perfectly! It is quite weird not seeing the light on all the time now - that thing has been on for a year!

Clarification for a 1996 Honda Accord - the yellow plug - is it the one directly under the sterring wheel or is it the main plug on the fuse block?

I have a 2000 Honda Accord 6 cylinder 4 door, and the SRS light came on. There is a fusebox accessible when the driver side door is open. In it is a 10 amp fuse marked SRS. I checked continuity - it is good. What else can I do? There are several looms of wires with plugs here.

Did you ever resolve this? I just started happening on my 2000 Honda Accord 6 cylinder 4 door.

Re: SRS WARNING light

It could be as simple as a bad seat belt buckle,or a bad srs unit. The seat belts in the Hondas are lifetime warranty, the srs units are not. Also keep in mind that as long as the srs light is on, the air bags are inop...

Thanks for responding.
It didn't seem that the SRS resetting instructions from above applied to my model since there is no under-dash fuse box and since I have two yellow plugs under there.
I tested the seat belt buckle with my ohm-meter per the Service Manual and concluded that it wasn't that.
I finally took it into the dealer. They ended up saying that it was the seat belt buckle and they repaired all for free. Since they started the day by saying they wanted $70 per hour just to diagnose it, I was very happy.
I had no way to read the SRS upset code myself, of course, so perhaps the seat belt buckle problem was intermittent.

2000 Honda Accord EX V6 SRS

I am having a problem with the SRS light. It failed 2 years ago and it was the drivers seat belt. It was covered by the warranty. Now the Honda dealer says it is the OPDS (occupent position displacement sensor) in the passenger seat. They charged me $70 to diagnose this problem. They want $430 to replace the OPDS. The service tech saw that I had a hands free cell phone kit installed and tried to blame the cell phone for the airbag failure.

Should I drop the $430 to get it fixed?

I assumed you mean it was fixed 2 years ago, but now it has failed again.

What is the year and model of your Accord?
