Clutch change?

Guys how much would it cost to change a clutch on a 90 240sx? Like Price of clutch, installation (If Im too lazy to do it myself) and all that crap? Which would you recommend? I found a 240sx for sale really cheap and its says it needs a clutch so any help would be useful

It's really hard to tell until you get under the car, when I had mine replaced I ended up spending around $1100 (labor included), once we opened it up we found the flywheel so hammered it had to be replaced along with several other bits and pieces, shifting fork at what not. If it says it needs a clutch it probably will need some more work while your down there. If your having some one do it for you if you get out the door for $600-$700 your really lucky, plan for closer to 1000-1200 if you don't want your car stranded in a shop.

Also about 2 months after the clutch work the input bearings housing on the tranny blew out, I drove it around lame like that for about 9 months before I took it back in to put a new transmission into the car. I recommend if you get the clutch done at a shop you have them give the tranny a good look over while their down there. If you can fix it up the same time as the clutch your gonna save some serious money on the labor.

You can get an Exedy clutch kit from http://www.clutchcityonline.com/ for about $120. Quick shipping, reliable people. If you do it yourself, make sure you spend the $40 or so bucks to have the flywheel resurfaced. I would change it myself, save $$$ for something else.

Re: Clutch change?

well I bought my cluth online for close to 200 shipped. The dealer quoted me $600 for labor and I couldn't find a shop that would "touch imports" to get a quote. So I did it myself.
