2000 Grand Am gas smell

We figured out the fuel pressure regulator is leaking. Is that a dealer only item and how much will it cost? My husband will fix it himself once we get the part. Is there a lot to changing it? Thanks.

If by dealer only you mean, can you only have this item installed by the dealer, no. It is part number 17113622 and gm list is $61.73, gmpartsdirect.com - $30.

I've never replaced one, but it doesn't look like much of a job. Just be sure to release any pressure in the fuel line. Do you know how to do that?

I'm sure my husband knows how. I spent $70 for the part. Wish I knew about that gm parts website beforehand. Thank you.
