Terrible, awful squealing!

Hopefully someone can help me out. I have a '96 Stratus. I'm kind of proud of myself since I've owned the same car for over 7 years and it's still running. ANYWAY, over the last few months, I've had my tie rods replaced (front, each side on two separate occasions), brake calipers replaced, new rotors, new tires, an alignment and a balance. Even though I've spent well over the worth of the car in less than six months, I'm happy with the improvements. (Don't have much choice, my credit's shot and can't afford a new one. ) The wobbling stopped and it no longer pulls to the left.

Well, now something up there is squealing and it's driving me insane!!! What could it be, now? It's a constant whining sound that only happens when it's cold, it starts at 10mph (used to be 20) and it speeds up as the car does. I can really only hear it in the front left side but it's enough to make me want to ram the car into a wall! HELP! Questions, comments, suggestions are all appreciated!

Sounds like it could be a loose belt. Either adjust to tighten the belt, or more likely the belt is cracking and should be replaced. If it snaps your car might overheat, and it will be a long drive home.

I also agree that it could be a loose belt but i also kind of think it could be a shot bearing or something else in the motor. i come from a long line of certified mechanics so i have alot of different opinions but it mainly sounds like a loose or old belt that needs replacing but i would still have it all checked out.

I agree, worn bearings can make a squealing sound as well. If you replace your belts and you still have the problem and they are all tight, have the bearings checked.
