4AGE 100Kwt in '93 Corolla Levin
Hi Guys,
I am building a Lotus Seven replica in Australia using a 4AGE 100Kwt engine from an AE92 Corolla. My problem is I must be able to show that this engine was used in a car in the USA in 1993 or later, for it to be legally registered here for road use. I had been told that this engine was released in the States in the Corolla Levin,in 1993, I'm wondering if anyone has any information that I can show the road traffic authority engineer which will satisfy him, so I can use this engine? Thank you in advance, GeoffO |

Why the fuck do you need that info? Sounds like BS to me. Good job on the Seven though

Hi Oz,
Yes you're right, it is BS! The full regulation regarding emissions for a suitable motor for an ICV(individually constructed vehicle) is either a 1997 Australian delivery motor or USA specs. after 1992. Would you believe those regulations are the relaxed version, which were changed in about April this year? Prior to that any sort of homebuilt/ kit car, be it a clubman, Cobra, etc. had to have the motor out of a brand new 2003 motor vehicle!! The 4AGE 100Kwt is a very popular engine for these small clubman cars down in Australia. So if any of the readers have any sort of documentation, perhaps factory literature, etc. that would satisfy the engineers and show that the 4AGE 100Kwt engine was in a USA vehicle in 1993, it would be gratefully received. Cheers, GeoffO |
