What are lsd's? I assume he's talking about a limited slip differential.

Re: Re: hello everyone. just got my first 240 last night!
HICAS = nissans 4ws system...ALTESSA is the computer controller program for it.
Limited-Slip Differentials comes in three forms...Helical, Viscous, and clutch-type. Clutch-type (Kaaz is a popular maker of them) diffs lock the rear wheels together the best...one can be on ice and the other on dry tarmac and it still will spin both wheels. Viscous is what comes with most cars if they came with a factory LSD. They work, but not as fast as a clutch-type or helical. They are still much better than an open diff and operate a lot more quieter and less abrupt since it uses liquid rather than metal to hold the rear tires together. Quaife (popular maker of helical diffs) doesn't offer posi traction like a Kaaz will, but on fairly even surfaces both wheels will still unload rather than one like an open diff. These supposedly offer better handling than a clutch-type, but it's probably much to do with preference. I haven't personally tried any other than Viscous and an open-diff. Even a viscous offers a world of difference compared to an open.

if im not mistaken, ATTESSA is the AWD system found in the R32-34 GTR's, the new generation 2 ATTESSA is found on the FX35awd/FX45, as well as the soon to be G35X sedan, and more then likely the new GTR if it ever comes.
