LT1 swap to an 1982 Impala
I got a 96 Camaro engine to put in my 82 Impala. Im about to throw everything together and hope for the best but Im confused on a few things.
First I want to put a non-electric 700r4 as opposed to a 4l60e that comes with lt1's. Im wondering what has to be done to modify wiring or computer or If if have to do anything to let the tranny run independant of the engine pcm. Just curious. Second, what type of engine mounts do I get because they sure look a lot different than stock. Any info on this subject would be greatly appreciated because Im just days away from assembly. Thanks. |

let start with the engine mount. yes they are differant! you need to move the cars passenger side mount back about 1 1/2 inch. you can unbolt it, and put the front hole in the rear hole and drill new hole. next, the 700r4 is a 4l60 and you can go two ways with this. 1, install the 4l60e or call jegs and get a hot rod wire kit from painless wiring that will operate the engine with out the tranny. other pcm problems that may pop up, the guy to talk to is byran herter at www.pcmforless.com
