Tires for 91 2+2, other misc

I just bought a 91 2+2. Black with tan leather. Somewhat high miles at 114,000 but i hear the non turbos can go forever with the right care. I don't mind feeding some money into it since I got a great deal at $4200. And the car had nice new non cheesy, side skirts, grill and spoiler to make it look more like a TT.

The thing is I have now fed $800 into it (about what I expected) new ignition, power antenna, power steering hose, etc. What I don't want to do is spend a fortune on tires.

Right now it has Kumho, ecstas on it but all four are wearing real thin. Since I am still in DC for 4 months before going back to LA, I need good all season tires. Any recommendations. One site by me has some Yokohamas W rated for $107 completely installed. Buy 3 get one free. Can anyone beat that. I have seen some tires for $65 but they kind of scare me. Is it safe/recommended to just put two new ones on the back since its real wheel drive?

Thanks, by the way I am still looking for affordable recommendations to fix by driver and passenger seats, leather is all busted up, but don't want to pay $300 a seat.

Re: Tires for 91 2+2, other misc

If you live in D.C. and you expect snow, then I'd say park it and take a cab until the streets are clear. Snow and/or all season tires aren't gonna make a bit of difference when you have more than 3 inches of snow on the ground. The tires on our cars are too wide for snow. The car is manufactured to be a sports car. To carve corners, accelerate well and generally put smile on our faces in good weather. Snow is reserved for econobox and family vehicles that are better equipped for it. The Kumho's are probably gonna be the least expensive "performance" tire that you'll find anywhere in the country. Remember if you cheap out for tires to ride well in the winter, those same tires have to do for you in the summer. Unless you plan on swapping them out in time for the fair weather that is.

As far as the leather goes, guess what...you bought a Z. Our cars were originally like 35K-55K cars. You're probably not gonna find anything cheap about repairing our cars. Especially the leather interior, you could go less expensive and not use real leather. There is an alternative, vinyl. Check out www.ztoyz.net www.importsextreme.com for a good idea on what to expect.
