No spark from 86 Mazda n/a

Hi, I have a 1986 GXL n/a that yields no sparks. I have no clue where to begin, as I am a rotary-newbie. I read on a forum to check for a properly grounded ECU, so is the ECU in the passanger's side panel or drivers? Also, any general tips on what to check? Thanks

The ECU is in the passenger footwell. First thing I would check is fuses. Then after that, check to see if the ECU is coming online.

I removed the ECU, inspected it and placed it back, so it works now. I'm thinking unproperly grounded ecu.
