How to: Program remote for 01 Yukon?

Hello, I've read through here and tried 2 of 3 methods I found. I don't know how to ground the Data Link Connector?

We bought a 01 Yukon with no remotes. Bought one that says "Directed" on the package and "Viper" on the remote. I was unable to get it to program. The directions talk about plugging the Valet/Program button into the blue port? I don't know of a Valet/Program button on this Yukon? I tried,
:
removing the radio fuse, ignition on/off, on/off, on/off, and the vehicle did not respond.

:holding unlock on the door, ignition on/off, on/off, released unlock, and the door locks cycled once, held the lock/unlock on the remote for 15 seconds and released, nothing happens?

There is a "Security" light that flashes on the dash but I don't have any idea how to use it, am also trying to locate a manul. Any idea how to program the remote? Thanks in advance! CDean

I found the Data Link Controller under the dash, in another post from the Tahoe forum, someone said to ground pin 4 to pin 8, the diagram showed pin 8 to be the one in the top right, my controller does not have a pin in this location. Am I on the wrong pin or is it broke/missing?

I returned the remote to Circuit City and they tried to program it also, but could not get it to work so they refunded the price. Do I have to buy a remote from GMC/Chevy or can I use an after market?

I bought a manual off EBay and am waiting on it to get here.
