Hey,
I just bought a new 2004 Spec V!!!! I would love to make few changes. If anyone has suggestions on the following, that would be great!!! Thx. Question #1: Make the tires / rims closer to the fender, especially on the rear wheels. I don't want it to rub or anyting, but closer to the exterior of the fender would look much better. So the question is... should I keep the existing OEM rims and buy some larger tires (i.e. 225's) or is a new set of rims inevitable? I looked at some new rims, but how do I know which ones will perform (i.e. light & good balance)? Not to mention that I would then have to sell my rims and tires, which only has 46 miles on them. I doubt I can get any $$'s for it, so I hate to sell it. But if that's what I have to do, so be it. Question #2: Any suggestions on a short shifter and a good sounding exhaust system? I hate the ones that make chainsaw sound. Doesn't anyone make an exhaust system that has a deep throaty sound? I'm new at this so, your help is appreciated. thx. |

Re: MOD suggestion for my new 04 SpecV
For a short shifter the Mossy short shifter or the B&M (which should be out shortly) are your best bets. I personally like the B&M better since it is a "full replacment", meaning it replaces the shift rod.
http://www.mossyperformance.com/main.html http://www.hpautoworks.com/bmshthshspv.html Most people like a brand of exhaust called Stromung, however it is pricey (about $600). I didn't want to spend that much on a exhausdt that would not give me a lot of power so I contacted VRS exhaust and this is what I got from them: - 2.25" aluminized mandrel bent piping - 22" magnaflow resonator (this will keep the exhaust tone in check). - Magnaflow #14815 muffler (This muffler looks stock to most other people, which is great for that sleeper factor). I have no complaints about the exhaust. I will be going back to VRS for a 3" Down pipe and a 3" cat-back when I am in the market for them! ![]() http://www.vrsexhaust.com/ |

First of all, congradulations on your new 2004 Spec-V. I drive a SE-R, not the Spec-V but they're almost the same. But as for your first question, you can make the wheels closer to the fenders without having to buy new wheels. You can go to some place like Auto Zone and get some thing called "wheel spacers" I havn't bought those before, but I'm sure they have some. As for your second question. I think the best cat-back exhaust system that gives the best "deep throaty sound" is Greddy. I just bought the Greddy Evo II cat-back and it sounds awesome. |
