Door Lock/Unlock 99 Grand AM

i just bought a 1999 grand am yesterday and when i went to go unlock my door with my key it didnt work i turns all the way to the left and all the way to the rigth but it does not open ethor my driver side door or my pasanger side door but it does open the trunk. i cannot figure it out the other thing is that the privious owner informend me that it did have keyless entry but he lost the remote i tryed to get one made but the dealership i took it to said that it did not have one. i didnt notic that it is missing the Driver Side Remote Relay in my fuse box could that be why i cannot open my door?
