Front wheel knocking

I have a 95' Sedan Deville with 111,000+ miles. I get a medium hard knock when the front wheels go over even the smallest bump in the road. The knock occurs even when the brakes are applied. I put the car up on some ramps and had some one bounced up and down on the fender while trying to reproduce the sound. I couldn't get the noise to reproduce. I don't know what happes if the struts get worn. I have no dash messages and have checked the codes, which showed no errors ( learned how on this forum). Anybody have any ideas?
Also is anyone else having a problem with main bearing knocking? I've been told that this model of V8 has a problem with the mains.

Check your sway bar ends. If you have the ball joint style, instead of the washer and rubber grommet type, they can make that kind of noise. Grab the end of the sway bar and pull up and down. If there is any movement, even a fraction of an inch, I would try these before anything else. Fairly cheap to replace in most cases.
